1935

Ferguson Radio is founded, then becomes a British company after its acquisition by Thorn in 1937, specialising in radios.

After WWII, Ferguson expands globally and enters TV manufacturing.

Ferguson produces the first all-transistor colour TV in the world.

Ferguson launches the TX TV range — the world's first single-board chassis.

1978

Thorn collaborates with Thomson-Brandt and Telefunken to promote the VHS format. Thorn merges with EMI.

1981

Thorn-EMI begins manufacturing videodiscs in the UK.

1987

Development of Fastext and NICAM stereo. Ferguson is acquired by Thomson Grand Public.

Thomson reduces its use of the Ferguson brand. Focus shifts to producing Thomson TVs.
